“Craven Conflict”, my third book, is a British legal suspense/drama set in Birmingham. My inspiration for the converging plot lines – a small businesswoman knowing that the price of defending her livelihood will be the reappearance of a long forgotten embarrassment from her private life, and an Asperger’s syndrome victim struggling to decide whether the lesser evil is to come clean about his condition to his new law firm employers or keep quiet about it – is almost thirty years’ worth of legal professional experience in employment law and commercial disputes.

My debut, "Hatred, Ridicule and Contempt" is set in the early nineties and is centred upon a libel action handled on behalf of the defendant newspaper, with a notable undercurrent of law firm politics. In taking such a step back in time, it was quite fascinating to think that twenty years ago, there was no internet and no email to speak of, and that the modern world of instant communication would only have existed as a figment of the imagination. But that's another story...

And as for another story, that's my second work "Infernal Coalition", a legal/political suspense. A plan to perpetrate an elaborate scam on a law firm runs in parallel with a bid for a mainstream Parliamentary career shortly before the 2010 General Election, where the victim of unexpected dirty tricks resolves that she will fight back hard rather than take her rebuff lying down.

Unusual as it may be to have chosen Birmingham and the West Midlands as the stage for the books, I am mindful of the fact that John Grisham, the greatest legal thriller writer of all times, based The Firm, one of his early classic works, in unfashionable Memphis. My all time favourite author is Robert Goddard, and apart from Grisham I also enjoy Tom Clancy, Michael Crichton and Glenn Cooper.
