I'm one of five children in my family and needless to say we had lots of adventures growing up! My mother would send us on scavenger hunts around the neighborhood (although that might have just been a way to get us out of the house!), we'd build forts under the dining room table, play hide and seek and "surprise attack" for hours, and generally cause chaos wherever we went--and sometimes our pets joined in on the fun. I remember one time our hamster, Spinach, escaped from his cage. The five of us searched for him forever, knowing our parents would be upset that we lost him again. We had to give up, finally, but Spinach had his own surprise for us in the middle of the night. We heard a loud scream and raced to my sister's bedroom: Spinach was done playing hide and seek and decided to sleep on her pillow.

Children are so much fun! They keep you laughing with what they say and do. There's never a dull moment. I've always wanted to write a book that children would enjoy, get excited about, and just laugh out loud. I wanted them to have fun, but more importantly, I wanted them to learn something along the way, too. From the beginning to the end of "Walter's Not So Peaceful Defintely Not Relaxing But Oh So Awfully Courageous Adventure" there are lots of lessons about responsibility, sharing, friendship, encouragement, bravery, and love for family and friends!
