Bharath Sriraman

Bharath Sriraman is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Montana- Missoula. He is known internationally for his research in the interdisciplinary aspects of mathematics with the arts and sciences; cognition; creativity; history and philosophy of mathematics; and mathematics education. Professor Sriraman has published 300+ journal articles, book chapters, proceedings papers, and reference work entries in his areas of interest, which include 33 edited books. In 2016, he was named the University of Montana Distinguished Scholar. He is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Mathematics Enthusiast, an independent, peer-reviewed open access international journal hosted by UM ScholarWorks. He is the Co-founder/Co-Series editor of Advances in Mathematics Education and Creativity Theory and Action in Education both with Springer. Professor Sriraman has held more than 40 visiting professorships at institutions in Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Germany, Turkey, Iran, Malaysia, Canada, South Africa, Colombia and Argentina, which include two U.S. Fulbright awards. The Handbook of the Mathematics of the Arts and Sciences (2021) and The Handbook of the History and Philosophy of Mathematical Practice (2024) have been his most ambitious editorial projects to date. He is presently curating and editing The Handbook of Visual, Experimental and Computational Mathematics: Bridges through Data in preparation for release in 2027. In his spare time, he is an amateur arborist.
