I am an amateur film historian who first became interested in Colleen Moore after discovering photographs of her but finding next to no information about her. She looked like an important actress, someone who should have been at least as famous as Louise Brooks (who shared a similar haircut with Colleen, and so the two are frequently mistaken), but aside from mentions of her existence and the occasional chapter in surveys of film history, there was nothing of any real value. As I began to research her, the research first became the content of a website dedicated to Colleen. However, it quickly became obvious that I was learning more than could easily be put into a website. Before I knew it I was researching a book. And so my Colleen Moore biography is the product of almost 10 years of research... much of it casual, and in the last few years very intense and scholarly. With luck, this book will inspire a new generation of film enthusiasts to rediscover an actress whose part in film history has been neglected in the past.
