ALEX THOMAS survived six winters of good, bad and occasionally irresponsible adventures to bring you this story. War and Piste was inspired by the strange and wonderful world of season life: the high heights of delicious fluffy powder fields, the low depths of crevasse interiors and lots more in between.

She no longer lives and works in the mountains, which is probably the only reason any of this ever got written down. Still, she can often be spotted skulking around the Austrian Arlberg and the Swiss Alps, camera in hand, smile on face.
