Grace Lees-Maffei

Dr Grace Lees-Maffei is Professor of Design History at the University of Hertfordshire, UK and Programme Director for DHeritage, the Professional Doctorate in Heritage. Lees-Maffei's books explore the things people say and write about design, globalization, national identity, British and Italian design history, gender, and domesticity. She is author of Design at Home: Domestic Advice Books in Britain and the USA since 1945 (Routledge, 2014), and editor of Designing Worlds: National Design Histories in an Age of Globalization (Berghahn 2016) and Made in Italy: Rethinking a Century of Design (Bloomsbury Academic, 2014), both co-edited with Prof Kjetil Fallan (University of Oslo); Iconic Designs: 50 Stories about 50 Things (Bloomsbury, 2014); Writing Design: Words and Objects (Berg, 2012); and The Design History Reader, co-edited with Rebecca Houze (Berg, 2010). Grace is series editor, with Fallan, of Cultural Histories of Design (Bloomsbury Academic).
