This world can be a much better, more just place than it is. Throughout my varied career -- as a teacher, a legal aid lawyer, a survey researcher, a nonprofit executive, a composer, writer, and a volunteer --- I've worked to help others.
As my career shows, I am a generalist. I'm a graduate of Brown University and the University of Chicago Law School. I've walked the path of Buddhism for 30 years now and along the way have had the good fortune to have had some powerful teachers who opened many gates for me. My spiritual books flow from my experiences of life, as a child and as an adult. They grow out of the turmoil of that life and my understanding of the ego, happiness, and our culture that has developed from walking the path of Buddhism.
My first book, We Still Hold These Truths, was acclaimed by James Fallows, National Correspondent, The Atlantic, as "a systematic and serious effort to make the [national] debate as clear and valuable as it can be. Agree or disagree with his conclusions, the questions he is asking are the right ones for the public this year."
My Buddhist blog was selected in 2017 as one of the top 50 Buddhist blogs on the internet.
I grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania and live now in Massachusetts.
