Jennifer Bauer is recently retired from a 43-year career with Tennessee State Parks. Living in the Roan Mountain area of upper East Tennessee, she began the first half of her service as a park Ranger Naturalist at Roan Mountain State Park. Later, she served at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park in Elizabethton as Park Manager. She is a three-time graduate of East Tennessee State University, receiving the National Alumni Association Award of Honor in 1992. She began her writing career with Prentice Hall in 1986, publishing A Naturalist's Teaching Manual.
Her family and her strong desire to preserve and protect both our natural world and our regions history are her two primary passions. Learning from and conducting interviews with those who relish our natural world and those who love history, Jennifer shares the stories, photographs, and experiences of our ancestors through her writing, interpretive programming, and continued research.
