Early on, when people asked me what my first book, La Maga A Story about Sorcerers and Magi, and the ensuing fiction series--Sorcerers and Magi--was about, I would describe them, in brief, as “Harry Potter for grown-ups.” I set to writing the first book fascinated by how very many 30, 40, and 50-year-old friends and acquaintances were enthusiastic readers of children’s fantasy classics such as the Harry Potter series, Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings. I wanted to write a fantasy novel that was for adults and contained timely adult themes and messages but yet retained the literary tone of quality classical children’s/young adult fiction. The first book, La Maga, led to penning The Fallen Fairy (Book 2 in the series), and then Book 3 The Savior at the End of Time --with more planned.
Some people read to escape, some to expand their minds. I came to fiction writing after long years of being immersed in Eastern spirituality. I had been slowly seguing from interests in Eastern mysticism (Advaita Vedanta, Kashmir Shaivism, and Buddhism) to interests in Western Hermetic esotericism and post-modern occultism, including Chaos Magick. I use my fiction series as a springboard to share pertinent concepts about spirituality, consciousness, redemption, and transformation in a narrative rather than didactic way.
My Sorcerers and Magi novel series offers thought-provoking ideas about self and finding oneself and one’s true purpose in the context of magical fantasy and should be of interest to adult fiction readers drawn to magic, mysticism, and spiritual philosophy. Each book explores a facet of my interest in a particular spiritual or occult topic.
I am a writer, editor, artist, independent researcher with interests in Eastern mysticism, post-modern magic, Western esotericism, and folk magic.
