Nicolai Due-Gundersen

Dr Nicolai Due-Gundersen is a political analyst and Lecturer with the United Nations after four years in Jordan. After obtaining a Master's degree in International Relations from the Geneva School of Diplomacy, he worked for NGOs in Jordan and served as an Advisor to the Arab Institute for Security Studies (ACSIS) in Amman. His work specializes in MENA oil states and Arab political history.

His first book, The Privatization of Warfare was praised by the International Spectator as 'a more innovative approach than the existing literature which predominantly addresses the legal status of PMCs, positioning itself in the broader debate on the state’s monopoly on the legal use of force. It may be a relatively complex read for beginners, but surely provides interesting food for thought for International Relations scholars and academics.’

Mihaela Luchian in The International Spectator (2018) 153

His work has been published by Open Democracy, the Small Wars Journal and the New Jurist. He has also been interviewed by Al Jazeera, Voice of Islam and Radio Sputnik.
