Craig A. Nelson

The Author, Craig A. Nelson, became a Born-Again Christian when he had a radical encounter with Jesus at the age of 14 and willingly chose to become His disciple after repenting of his sins and receiving Him as Lord and Savior. That began an intense desire to learn more about Jesus, which opened the door to all kinds of false teaching from cults, misguided and uneducated Pastors, and so-called spiritual leaders who misled, deceived, and lied to him. As a result, he had a convoluted understanding of the Bible and who Jesus actually is. It was not until he began formal Bible education that he realized just how misled he had become. The one most important thing he learned in all his years of training was how to study the Bible using the rules of biblical Hermeneutics. As a result, the Author committed to God to know the Bible and legitimate Christian theology that is untainted by denominational dogma..

Over the years, as he genuinely sought to draw closer to Jesus, the Author has experienced many storms and an ever-deepening holy dissatisfaction with spiritual mediocrity, which has been the primary impetus for him to earnestly desire to draw closer to God's majesty - yearning for more of His glory every day.

There had been many dramatic and traumatic events throughout the years that caused him to go through levels of spiritual catharsis that brought a deepening realization and understanding of the inner way of the Cross and the meaning of being a fully devoted follower of Jesus.

The effects of sickness and disease, and the death of loved ones, brought times of sensing terrible loneliness that cut to the very core of his being. Doubts had come, flooding his heart and mind like a raging storm, causing him to question his beliefs and faith in God. The whirlwinds of catastrophic events sent him spinning as if out of control - so often that it was challenging to find emotional and spiritual equilibrium.

The Author's daily walk had, at times, felt like he was treading water and going nowhere. The call of God on his life was only an ancient echo. There has been intense pain from the feelings of rejection, betrayal, fear, insecurity, and abandonment. God had sometimes felt hidden and a billion miles away.

Even when things appeared to be going well, there were times of puzzling darkness. It had often seemed as if a dark cloud hovered overhead and blocked out the warmth and light of God’s beauty throughout his life. The Bible felt dry, and the heavens were as brass. He felt disillusioned, discouraged, depressed, and frustrated. As a result, the Author began living a fasted lifestyle, starting with fasting one day a week for his wife and daughter, and then as more 'challenges' would appear he added three days of fasting once a month, then 7 days, 10 days, and 21 days every three months, which turned into 40 days because the challenges of life often seemed overwhelming. Each time God would reveal more of Himself and His glory during intense prayer and fasting, and He has yet to stop decades later.

Everyone has a confirmation bias they use to support their personal beliefs or values, regardless of whether those beliefs are correct. These biases influence how a person interprets and presents information. The Author’s confirmation bias is that God is love, exponentially beyond good, and His faithfulness surpasses all life experiences because He only wants the best for His people. It is with that bias that he has written all of his books.
