Charlie Souza is a bass player, vocalist, performer, writer and producer who has been in the business over five decades. His music has been released on Columbia, Atlantic, Polydor, Fantasy and Laurie Records. FORTRESS on Atlantic Records was an '80s melodic metal group and still is a cult favorite in Europe. Charlie has filmed and recorded a live DVD and CD with the NEW RASCALS - NEW RASCALS RELOADED. Charlie has toured, collaborated and recorded with Tom Petty; Greg Allman; Bill Champlin of Chicago; Mike Pinera, Malcolm Jones and Joe Lala of Blues Image; Cactus; White Witch; Gale Force with producer Wayne Henderson of The Jazz Crusaders; Native American actor Floyd Red Crow Westerman; Santana keyboardist Leon Patillo; and the Darrell Mansfield Christian Band, among many others. While touring with the New Rascals, Charlie performed on the live DVD in 2008, New Rascals Reloaded. The soundtrack was released on Ba-Ba records in France in 2010 titled New Rascals LEGENDS.
Charlie recorded a CD in 2007 titled Livin' in Paradise at Tampa Bay's MCR/AB1 Studios and Big 3 Studios in Saint Petersburg to include songs that the Tropics used to play when they were still kids back in the '60s: Black Jacket Woman, Time, Summertime Blues and All You Need Is Love by the Beatles. The opening track on this album, Carry Me Back to St. Petersburg, won first place in the official city song contest in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2009. During the summer of 2010 during the Gulf Oil Crisis, Charlie wrote and recorded a song with his friends, out of the need for musical therapy and as a response to the lack of action taken by BP, Make It Right (In the Gulf of Mexico).
