Malcolm Snook

Malcolm Snook is an east end of London boy, born (1956) in Walthamstow, of parents from Stoke Newington and Hackney. He attended McEntee Technical College, a comprehensive state school. At the age of seventeen he cheekily contacted Magnus Magnusson to try and get a place on an Arctic Expedition, for which the famous broadcaster was appealing for funds on television. He duly went to Lapland as a result.

At nineteen Malcolm Snook became a skydiving instructor at the RSA Parachute Club, based at Thruxton. He was the youngest instructor in the country and at twenty three, after teaching the Madagascan Parachute Brigade, he became Chief Instructor of the club.

A desire to race cars saw him bluff his way into a career in automotive advertising and eight years of single seater racing and two years of six hundred cc Supersport motorcycle racing, with one championship victory.

Today Snook lives on an old Dutch sailing ketch and spends his time travelling, exploring, meeting new people and writing. His first book 'Of Land, Sea And Sky' tells the story up until the time he left to sail the world, with chapters on other diverse interests. 'How To Anchor Safely, So You Sleep Well!' was inspired by his own adventures and events he has witnessed, some funny, some dangerous; it has sound advice for anyone wishing to live on a boat long term and travel inexpensively.
