My name is Susan Dodd and I have loved writing all my life. One of my English teachers said to me one day - "Susan, if you do not write a book one day I shall eat my hat". That was said over forty years ago and I never forgot those words - and here I am with four children’s books published.
I live in a small Lincolnshire village with my husband Richard, and my books are based around my late Father's workshop in Louth. I draw upon my childhood memories to weave my magical stories.
I am a avid Grimsby Town football supporter and travel with my family all over the country following The Mighty Mariners !!!
On September 21st 2023, my first “adult” book was published, called The Parents Room. The book is based on my experiences working alongside parents of two schools situated on mainly council estates in Grimsby on the east coast. Situated in both schools were rooms set aside specifically for parents of the children to visit. They came for a cuppa before the children went into school or to join in adult education classes, talks and activities. The parents staged Christmas pantomimes for the children, cooked Christmas dinners, made their own wedding dresses, put on a sixties night, and there was even a baptism that all the children came to and many more fun activities.
The inspiration for The Parents’ Room was imaginatively based on my experiences with these special people.
