Rick Wood

Rick Wood grew up in the small town of Kinston, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University in 1966 and began his coaching odyssey at nearby Beauregard High School. He would coach at an all-black school in South Carolina, in the panhandle of Florida and finally in the mountains of Western North Carolina. The last 17 years he coached at West Henderson High School, near Hendersonville. He retired with 662 career wins, but along the way he learned the thing that is really important is ralationships.

Wood retired from teaching and coaching in 2006. He and his wife live in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He started this writing project in February, 2010 and "40 Seasons" was published in September, 2011.
