Jim Boersema

Spent most of my younger years traveling the world with my parents, living in seven states and four foreign countries; then went to Michigan State University and got a degree in Journalism (later got MA in Asian Studies, MBA in business and BA in archeology, plus graduate of Army Command & General Staff College) --within weeks of graduation was drafted into the Army and soon found myself in Vietnam in the jungle as an infantryman...stayed on active duty with the Army for ten more years because I got to work in journalism -- living in Washington, D.C., five more states and then Japan for nearly eight years.... married a Japanese girl and had two sons before leaving active duty with the Army --- moved to Hawaii in 1980 and spent the next thirty years as a public relations man, three times winning the nation's highest PR award and working with many of Hawaii's largest corporations and non-profit organizations. Remained as an Army Reserve officer from 1980 - 2006, making annual trips to Asia most of those years and serving again on Active Duty from 2004-2006 as part of the War on Terror....now a retired full Colonel but still very involved in Hawaii activities. Currently on the Board of the group that oversees the Arizona Memorial, plus Chairman of two large non-profits and working full time at the State Capitol. Wrote "Loveless in the Nam" as first of a series of novels about fictional military "hero."
