K. Dawn Goodwin is the author of Until He Comes (Simon & Schuster, 2011) and Crash, Bang, Burn (2015) - and line producer, head writer and lead actor on an independent movie based on the title. While a satirist at heart, Goodwin's skill is her dark humor - and her unique ability to make her readers feel the raw highs and desperate lows that come from medicating with sex, religion and bad relationships.
A Connecticut native, Goodwin is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta where she majored in creative writing. For the last 20 years, she's lived in rural western Georgia, where she enjoys local pastimes such as lighting explosives and using her minivan to haul wood.
In her debut memoir, Until He Comes (awarded finalist in the Georgia Writer's Association 2013 Author of the Year competition) she shares her personal journey navigating the murky waters of religion and sexuality with the laugh-out-loud humor of such bestselling authors as Jen Lancaster and Laurie Notaro. Goodwin presents not just a tortured tightrope walk through fundamentalism but also provides a powerful reflection of the core issues facing young women: low self-esteem, depression, eating disorders, sexuality and hypocritical messages of perfection.
Told through the eyes of three lovers, this Crash Bang Burn is a dark, anti-romance novel about marriage, divorce and family in the ruralburbs.
