Ace Abbott

Aviation equals adventure and Ace Abbott demonstates this premise in spades. This tell-all memoir provides an eye-opening insider's view of the dynamic world of aviation. From flying fighter jets in the F-4 Phantom to Learjet charter trips with celebrities such as: Jack Nicklaus, Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, John Glenn, etc., The Rogue Aviator will entertain both the veteran pilot as well as the layman. His 22 years as a Boeing 727 Captain provides unique insight into the nuances of a professional pilot's career that morphed into an odyssey. This expose' reveals the dark underbelly (entreprenurial greed) of commercial aviation. It also uncovers the rarely discussed NTSB accident investigation cover-ups for political purposes

Ace describes the life of a swaggering fighter pilot and shares his many incredible experiences as an F-4 Phantom fighter pilot. As a Learjet charter pilot his clientele varied from wealthy Palm Beach socialites to hyper-wealthy South Florida drug kingpins. Layovers included: five-star hotels in Paris and jail cells in Venezuela. Implausible anecdotes that take the reader well outside the aviation box and will leave the reader slack-jawed with spiked blood pressure. His experience as a "night freight dog" and "nonsked" airline captain will reveal "the back alleys of aviation.".

Upon retirement he launched a new career as a golf teaching pro but in late 2008, two of his ex-pilot colleagues encouraged him to write a book about his adventuresome and tumultuous aviation career. The third edition of The Rogue Aviator was published in June, 2011. It was upgraded in June 2015 with the first revision to the third edition

Ace has been a featured author at the renowned EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Air Show for the previous three years. The previous two years at Oshkosh he delivered speeches on the front-and-center aviation topic of tired pilots in the cockpit. His most recent book, Dead Tired:Pilot Fatigue-Aviation's Insidious Killer, elaborates on this subject.

Ace frequently hosts book presentations at libraries, civic organizations, aviation groups, and airshows. He has participated in approximately 50 radio interviews, two TV interviews, and hosts a one-hour aviation radio talkshow titled, Ace Abbott's Aviation Affair (http://webtalkradio.net/).
