Troon Harrison

Troon Harrison writes fiction and nonfiction for three age groups, and in a wide array of genres including historical, contemporary, fantasy, and science fiction. Her books are published in nine countries and several languages, and have been listed for numerous awards. Troon has been writing since she was about six years old! Like E.B. White (Charlotte's Web) she writes to express her love for the world. Troon's adventures include motorbiking across Canada, sailing a yacht in the Virgins, living in a school bus, hiking in the mountains of northern Greece, and taking a canal boat through southern France.

She paints in acrylics and loves to work with picture book artists! Several of her picture books were inspired by her son when he was young. Troon has university degrees in Sociology, English Literature, and Education; she teaches for the Institute of Children's Literature. She mentors other writers and provides mansucript critiques. Troon lives in the country with her husband, two horses, two cats and a dog. Her interests include art, photography, reading, horse riding, painting, animals, history, world culture, and being outdoors!

Troon's home is about 150 years old and her office is painted bright yellow and filled with art and objects from her world travels.
