Nathanael O'Reilly

BIOGRAPHY: Nathanael O'Reilly is a poet, scholar and teacher. He was born and raised in Australia, where he attended Monash University and the University of Ballarat. He has lived outside Australia since 1995 and spent extended periods in England, Ireland, Germany, Ukraine and the United States, where he currently resides. O'Reilly completed both his M.A. and Ph.D. in English at Western Michigan University. He is the author, editor and co-editor of sixteen books: Dublin Wandering (Recent Work Press, 2024); Landmarks (Lamar University Literary Press, 2024); Selected Poems of Ned Kelly (Downingfield Press, 2024); Boulevard (Downingfield Press, 2024); Dear Nostalgia (above/ground press, 2023; (Un)belonging (Recent Work Press, 2020); BLUE (above/ground press, 2020); New and Selected Poems of Anna Wickham (UWAP, 2017); Preparations for Departure (UWAP Poetry, 2017), named one of the 2017 Books of the Year in Australian Book Review; Cult (Ginninderra Press, 2016); Distance (Ginninderra Press, 2015); Tim Winton: Critical Essays (UWAP, 2014; co-edited with Lyn McCredden); Exploring Suburbia: The Suburbs in the Contemporary Australian Novel (Teneo Press, 2012); Suburban Exile: American Poems (Picaro Press, 2011); Postcolonial Issues in Australian Literature (Cambria Press, 2010); and Symptoms of Homesickness (Picaro Press, 2010). More than 350 of his poems appear in journals and anthologies published in fifteen countries. He has given invited readings in Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, Italy, Hungary and the United States. He teaches at The University of Texas at Arlington, where he is Assistant Professor of Creative Writing, specializing in poetry.
