American literature, she joins the burgeoning club of female, African American
writers and publishers. She is a graduate of Cheyney State University and
Springfield College of Massachusetts with a Master’s degree in Community

has helped several of her clients through tough times. She specializes in
helping people reach their fullest potential, and she plans to continue doing
so through her writing. September 25, 2011 Lati`a D. Johnson founded Authors With
A Purpose (AWAP). The purpose of the organization is to first promote literacy through various collaborative programs. AWAP also supports charitable causes, new author assistance, writer development, college scholarships and author’s collaborations.
Although writing has not been one of her educational paths, she has a
passion for story telling through novels and poetry. Johnson grew up on the
mean streets of North Philadelphia. Her rough surroundings and street wit
flows freely through her writing. She holds nothing back as she places her
readers' right in the middle of each scene. Lati`a has penned 7 literary works in various genres and continues to be active in the development of quality authors.
She is a young entrepreneur that has overcome obstacles in her life. As an
Author and CEO of Johnson Production Publications, Lati'a also known as LJ has created an environment where authors can be a part of the publishing process from manuscript to distribution. Lati`a Johnson has taken JP from self-publishing to a full service indie publishing company since the doors opened in 2005.
