David L. Johnston

David Johnston received a degree in history from California State University at Long Beach. To help pay for college, he worked from 1962 to 1968 for Avalon Air Transport/Catalina Air Lines. Starting on the seaplane floats wrestling luggage, mail, boats, and aircraft — eventually David become the Station Manager in Avalon. As the song says, "I found my love in Avalon," David met his wife Janet on Catalina Island while he was working for Catalina Air Lines.
