After serving in Korea with the U.S. Army, Todd Freund started civilian life as a shoe salesman and worked his way up to the executive level. But he always had the dream of publishing a thriller. That opportunity came when he met his old classmate at his class’s St. Mary’s High School 60th Anniversary Reunion. His wife and grown-up children saw his dream come true.

He met Frederick Von Burg, Indie author, publisher and teacher, whom he had known since 1949. Frederick, also an octogenarian, was hesitant about writing a thriller, but got to work on a literary novel using Todd’s idea. Together they settled on the idea of the story. Both are Long Island residents, and the prospect of a rousing sea story ignited both.
