Nellie Robertson

I was born in Olympia, WA on Feb. 26, 1927, the middle child of Edwin and Fern Balmert.I attended Washington School, Washington Junior High and Olympia High School. After graduation, I married, gave birth to two children and we moved to Tacoma.

I was an active PTA mom and went through the locals, and served as president of Tacoma Council of PTA. I took two courses in parliamentary law at the vocational school and went on to become a professional registered parliamentarian serving a number of organizations.

After a divorce and remarriage, my husband and I moved to Monroe, WA.

I worked at the Monroe Monitor/Valley News weekly newspaper in Monroe, WA, where I earned five writing awards. When I retired, I vowed to write the history of Monroe and a novel. I accomplished both goals and have written two Monroe history books, and six historical novels.

We lived in Dillingham, AK for four years where I was elected mayor. Back home in Olympia, I have continued to write at the ripe old age of 84.
