Christl A. Donnelly

Christl Ann Donnelly has worked on a range of infectious diseases including influenza, SARS, malaria, BSE (aka mad cow disease) and variant CJD, bovine TB, and foot and mouth disease. She has taken a particular interest in analyzing disease outbreaks as they unfold and has advised policymakers on a range of issues relating to the control of infectious diseases.

She studied mathematics at Oberlin College (Ohio) and biostatistics at Harvard University before moving to the UK in 1992. She lectured at the University of Edinburgh for three years before joining (now Sir) Roy Anderson's Wellcome Trust Centre for Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases at the University of Oxford. The group moved to Imperial College London in 2000 to form a new Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology where she is now Professor of Statistical Epidemiology.
