John Gwynant was born and raised in Leicestershire. He started writing when he was forced by ill health to retire.
His first book, "The Curse of the Sin Eater", introduces Lady Helen of York, and is a horror story written after reading about a medieval funereal rite, where it was believed that one person could take away the sins of the dead. After being let down by a conventional publisher, John found out about Amazon's Kindle publishing deal and their Createspace paperback publishing, and has been with both of them ever since.
Lady Helen is also the heroine of his second book, "Excalibur's Last Battle", which takes the reader back to a vulnerable Britain after "King Arthur" is killed in battle. John's research into the history of the time leads to some surprising and controversial conclusions. While Arthur appears only briefly, his sword Excalibur goes on in Galahad's hands, as he and Helen risk everything to fulfil their pledge.
His third book consists of short stories of adult humour called "Ramblin Jack's Bawdy Tales." It follows a year in the hilarious antics of the residents of "Lurking-in-the-Wolds", a fictional town.
Three books followed based around the "Sunnyview Naturist Club" at Lurking-in-the-Wolds. Although the same fictional town as before, these are more serious and deal with the lives and loves of some of the population. Again these are aimed at the adult reader. "Love Lies Lurking" combines two of his ebooks, "The Unremarkable Couple" and "The Remarkable Couple." This was followed by "Joy in Love".
Then there is the non-fiction "Riddle of the Sandbar." In ebook only, it covers three of the author's trips by canoe and sailing canoe in Norway, on the Baltic and the first descent of the Upper Soar.
Murder mysteries "Murder at the Abbey", a 1930s upper-class murder mystery in the style of the early greats of this genre, set in the fictional Cotswold village of Bramhill. "The Bristol Cross Murders" a serial killer haunts Bristol during the late 19th century murdering young women and cutting a cross in their naked chests. "The Office Murder" set in a 1960s office where a popular and beautiful young woman is murdered.
As of March 1st 2015 there are 14 paperbacks available from Amazon, cobvering sci-fi, historic fiction and romance. Three short stories are in editting and will be released early March.
What will be written in the future depends on something triggering his thoughts, it could be anything, but it will be available on Amazon - Just search for John Gwynant or link to it through www.books4reading.com.
