John Murray

John Murray left a successful corporate career to pursue the noble profession of firefighting with the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department.

Murray placed second in his Fire Academy rookie class and graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School Paramedic Program with Honors. Murray was nominated for Rookie of the Year twice. He was awarded the Outstanding Service to the Department Award in May 2012. He promoted to the rank of Driver-Engineer in August 2009 and to the rank of Lieutenant in April 2014.

Murray earned a Bachelor of Arts from Southern Methodist University where he double majored in English Literature and History. Rookie the Book, self-published in May 2011, is his first book.
