Ian J. Smethurst, born in 1981 in Chester, United Kingdom to a typical working class family. Predominantly a science fiction writer, although he does occasionally foray into fantasy as well.

His bestselling science fiction series E.D.F Chronicles, began in 2010 with the publication of E.D.F. Chronicles : The Krenaran massacre, the follow up in the series E.D.F Chronicles : E.D.F Resurgent was published in 2011, and the latest in the series E.D.F Chronicles : Eye of the Dracos was released in 2012 to much acclaim.
