Tony 'Tex' Watt

-Tony Watt (born on 1 January 1978 in Toronto) is a Canadian actor, disc jockey, director, producer, screenwriter, cartoonist and low-key indie rock music recording artist.

Biography

-He got the nickname 'Tex', from a U.S. military stint in Fort Worth, Texas. Though a professional underground cartoonist and rocker, Watt is known mainly for his acting and filmmaking efforts. Watt's interest in cinema began (in 2003), when he was a University of Toronto radio talk-Disc jockey on (the movie-maker showcase radio program) "Cinephiles" (that he soon briely renamed: "Tex's 15 Minutes" before it was cancelled), on CIUT-FM & soon after, began his onscreen career, as a producer/host of various Candadian t.v. shows (some of which also acted as filmed versions of his radio show).

In 2002, after taking a film course in Brampton, ON, Watt founded the Twisted Sinema Underground Movie Festival and t.v. program (which followed the "Cinephiles" radio showcase format).

Cinematic Beginnings

-Taking a cue from the Roger Corman, Samuel Z. Arkoff, Russ Meyer and Troma Entertainment template;(in 2003) he made a few short exploitation films and 'girls with guns' nudies with various strippers and groupies from the Toronto entertainment nightlife scene. Soon, his theatrical feature film career began in 2004, as the 'Brimstone Milkman', in his first minor acting role, in the action/horror/sci-fi feature: Sinners and Saints (2004 movie) . His next acting role was as the part of 'Jay' in the 2006 zombie movie: Zombie Night 2: Awakening and (in 2008) as himself in: Primal Film's Reel Zombies.

TWI Studios

-Watt's first lead role was the part as Romeo Montague/Patient Zero, in his self-produced and directed Tony Watt Inc.(TWI), Studios[2] feature film called: Frankenpimp (based on his self-published graphic novel);[3] which according to the Night of the Living Film Festival's review the film was "...a surreal nightmare on screen....a great homage to underground b-movies.... wicked soundtrack.. . an amazing gothic experience in sound and visuals ...not perfect, but not bad either..Artistic vulgarity at its best..nice first effort..a gritty, ragged masterpiece!

Frankenpimp was made over four years with actress/filmmaker Vivita, who acted as main Co-Writer, Actress, Editor and Co-Producer (they also made a feature documentary, based on reggae legend: Dobby Dobson. In 2008, Watt, along with Shauna Jaeger co-produced King Kaufman:The Passion of Lloyd a documentary about Lloyd Kaufman - the president and founder of Troma Entertainment and the creator of The Toxic Avenger; which the internet Horror Society review called "..an entertaining ride".
