Marcia Hatfield Daudistel

Marcia Hatfield Daudistel most recently is the author of Across the Border and Back: Music in the Big Bend, published by Texas A&M University Press. She is also the co-author with writer Mimi Gladstein of the book The Women of Smeltertown by TCU Press. Marcia is the co-author with writer and photographer Bill Wright, of Authentic Texas: People of the Big Bend, published by the University of Texas Press and winner of the 2014 Southwest Book Award from the Border Regional Library Association. She is the editor of of Grace and Gumption: the Women of El Paso, winner of a 2013 San Antonio Conservation Society publication award, and Literary El Paso, winner of the 2010 Southwest Book Award of the Border Regional Library Association, both published by TCU Press.

As the former Associate Director of Texas Western Press, at the University of Texas at El Paso, Marcia published books specializing in the history and cultures of the Southwest and established the bilingual imprint Frontera Books.

Marcia was selected as the recipient of the 2012 Literary Legacy Award from El Paso Community College and is a 2013 inductee into the El Paso Commission for Women Hall of Fame. She is an officer of the Texas Institute of Letters. El Paso was her home for thirty -five years.
