Walt Wilson is a retired U.S. Navy Captain with over 31 years of service as an Intelligence Officer. After leaving the Navy in 2002, he and his wife of over 40 years returned to their roots in Texas. As a result of his family connections and U.S. Navy assignments, Walt has been privileged to have lived in, or have spent significant time at or on most of the coastal locations and bodies of water that he writes about. His father's career in the U.S Coast Guard took him up and down the coast of Texas with additional port calls in New Orleans, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Boston, and Bermuda. He has written numerous scholarly articles about blockade running in the Western Gulf of Mexico that rely on primary sources and reveal unique analytical insights into the people, places, and maritime operations during America's most tragic, but compelling conflict.
