Kevin Duffy

Kevin Duffy was born in 1961 in Ely, England and spent the first four years of his life in Singapore. He has worked in a bakery, a jigsaw factory, a fast food burger bar and with Les Dawson in a pantomime in Stockport in 1982. He won a national writing prize and was whisked down to London, where an agent and a publishing director wined and dined him at The Ivy restaurant. He nearly got thrown out for trying to steal a facecloth from the toilets. For a year he became Irish and a very big literary agency signed him up as Colm O'Driscoll until he arrived at their offices and told them his true name.

He got so sick and tired of the publishing world, he remortgaged his house and started Bluemoose Books with his wife Hetha. They have since published 12 books and become an award winning publisher with one of their titles, KING CROW, winning The Guardian's NOT THE BOOKER 2011.

Kevin was very angry but is now calm and lives in Hebden Bridge.
