David Hale

David Hale, (D.L. Hale) author

Born in 1949, the author was raised near the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. After attending class in a four-room schoolhouse, David moved to suburbia where he went to Halls High School. He was in the Army and in Vietnam in the sixties and again in 1972, attended Carson-Newman College and Tennessee State Tech.

Hale has four grown sons, and is married to the woman he took to the prom in 1965. He was a business owner and consultant, and a former member of the NWU (National Writers Union). He has since retired and plans to finish the final novel of the "If I Were an Eagle" trilogy.

Hale's trilogy actually began from his own experience of being given away at the early age of 3. Later when he finds this out, he is so angered by the thought that he decides to write about it. While he writes the make believe story of the mother and father that he never knew, ironically, during the telling, he finds himself feeling a compassion for the two. So the story of “If I Were an Eagle” begins.

A book of poetry will soon be added to his collection of works.
