Stacie Morrell

Stacie Morrell has worked with antiques and collectibles since 1985, when her parents purchased an antiques store. Starting at age 14, Stacie began collecting rare books and Ephemera and selling items in her parents' store. From 1987-1997, Stacie participated in antiques shows, antiquarian book fairs, and conducted appraisals and estate sales full time.

Stacie began working with non-profit organizations 17 years ago when the internet (eBay and Amazon) changed the business of antiques. Stacie started a bookstore and online media sales for the Wilsonville Library Friends to maximize their in-kind media donations. During her years working with the Wilsonville Library Friends, Stacie brokered a rare and unique collection of National Geographic magazines, containing ultra-rare issues all the way back to the first issue. During this time Stacie also brokered the sales of a golden age comic collection for the library, including Captain America issue #1, early Batman, Wonder Woman, and WWI comics with covers by famous artists. Both of these collections resulted in tens of thousands of dollars for the Wilsonville Library.

Stacie Assisted the Canby Library Friends and the Newberg Library Friends in starting and developing their online media sales of in-kind donations.

In 2003, stacie started the e-commerce department for Goodwill of the Columbia Willamette, to maxamzie value in antique and collectible in-kind donations. She also expanded their newly formed online book and media sales. Today, that department does millions of dollars a year in sales. During her tenure with Goodwill, in October 2006, Stacie discovered an original watercolor by listed American Impressionist Frank Weston Benson, which resulted in the highest sale for a non-profit online to this day at $160,000.

Since 2012, Stacie has managed three thrift stores for small local non-profits, increasing their sales by as much as 45% in one year, by maximizing multiple streams of revenue and teaching volunteers, executive directors and board members how to best market and realize the best value for their in-kind donations of pre-owned goods.

Stacie has been featured by Mental Floss and Reader's Digest in articles about thrift stores: http://mentalfloss.com/article/525053/9-secrets-thrift-store-employees
