Janice M. Chamberlin

After much prompting from family and friends, and especially from her Dad, Janice wrote her first book “Locked Up With Success.” In this book, Janice shares many stories about working with the inmates, some funny, some sad, and shows us how dedication and commitment CAN make a difference in someone else’s life.

Teaching in an all-male prison had its challenges, but Janice feels this was her most successful and fulfilling work thus far. Her experiences in the prison setting have provided her with valuable feedback, making her an untapped resource for all teachers who wish to close the achievement gap in their own classrooms. Jan has been "released" since 2012, and currently teaches adult education "out in the streets". Her biggest passion is improving literacy and encouraging life-long learning.

In her second book, "Teaching the High School Equivalency", Jan offers practical ideas and information to adult educators. This book is for teachers, assistants, and tutors of the adults who come back for their second chance of getting their high school equivalency certification: GED, TASC, or HiSet.

Janice Chamberlin has been involved in education since 1973. She has been an educator in public and private schools, a case manager for Child Welfare, and a businesswoman.

Her undergraduate and graduate degrees are from Indiana University, and her All Building Administrator License was completed at Indiana Wesleyan University

Janice makes her home in Michigan City, Indiana. She is rich in friends and family, and especially enjoys her grandchildren.
