Joseph Larsen

World sold Author, radio talk show host and NASCAR Official, Joseph Larsen, was born and raised on Long Island, New York, the son of a tool maker and a stay at home Mom. His Grandfather, who took Joe, age 7, to the stock car races at various tracks on Long Island, spawned his early influences in auto racing.

In 1976, during his teen years, Joseph graduated from Babylon High School and while he was working on his Uncle's racecar; he dreamt of the day when he too, could drive the track.

While attending college in the late 70's, majoring in Pre-Law, Larsen purchased his first racecar and began competing at Islip Speedway, a 1/5 mile racetrack near his home. Although he was mediocre at best as a driver, he learned all he could about the behind the scenes activities involved in auto racing while serving on the Board of Directors for two racing organizations.

In 1996, Larsen was involved in a horrific racing accident at Riverhead (NY) Raceway, which almost claimed his life. Most people would have walked away from the sport, but not Larsen. One year later Larsen became a NASCAR Official and he never looked back. The incident and subsequent interactions with other racers, track operators and fellow officials, only fueled his desire to write of the experiences he encountered along his journey. As an official, Larsen has officiated over 6,000 events, covering 14 states and Canada. He continues to write fictional stories based on his racing experiences on how auto racing has affected the lives of so many.

Outside of auto racing, Larsen managed a retail store, was a Suffolk County Legislative Assistant, Purchasing Manager and, an Account Manager spending 25 years at UPS.

As father of five children and one stepson, Larsen continues to live on Long Island near his children.
