Deanna Morris Conway

Deanna Morris Conway was born during the late 1950s in Southern California and raised during the turbulent 1960s and 1970s in a very non-turbulent town in Southwest Missouri. During the early 1980s she embraced the future of technology by spending hours writing code on a home computer attached to a monitor that moonlighted as a television set. The late 1980s brought the birth of two wonderful children, who caused her leisure time to become filled with many other worthwhile activities. Hand in hand with those activities, came a concept known only to those parents who have watched a small child grow slowly at first and then, with amazing speed, to reach adulthood to seek out lives of their own. It is the concept known a 'A Blink of The Eye', and it found her, once again, looking for ways to fill her leisure time when those children emptied her nest. Many of those hours were spent on the phone with her mother, sister-in-law, co-worker, or a friend, attempting to explain to them a way out of their latest computing predicament, all the time assuring them that they had done nothing that would alter the course of the universe or even render their computer nothing more than a useless pile of parts and ports.

While coaching her mother by phone one afternoon - helping her, once again, navigate through a maze of post-it notes attached to her computer to find the one that would relate to her current crisis - the idea of a simple to use guide aimed at the novice computer user sprang to her mind. This book is not meant to be an extensive manual covering all aspects of computing, but rather a simple guide designed for the new or infrequent computer user who wants to send an email, shop online, create a photo album to share, or surf the web with confidence.

These days she can be found filling her recently reclaimed leisure hours by reading books (often re-reading favorites, like those by George R.R. Martin) on her Kindle, or working at her computer on her latest project, a work of fiction. She lives in Southwest Missouri with her husband, three dogs, two cats, and an internet photo album filled with often-viewed pictures of her beautiful granddaughter.
