Matthew Eastley

My name's Matt Eastley and I'm nosey. Hopefully not in an irritating or intrusive way but because I'm endlessly fascinated and interested in people. As a journalist of 30 years standing I know that everybody, bar none, has a story to tell. You simply have to talk to people for a while, get to know them and sure enough, eventually, they will reveal something interesting. I have no interest in celebrities or celebrity culture. I'm interested in the everyday, the hidden heroes, the stories-behind-the story of real people like you or I. This is the basis of most of my books. I also love nothing more than a good chase so I enjoy tracing people anywhere in the world, engaging with them, getting to know them and working with them to bring their memories to the page. If you love real people, nostalgia, popular culture and a different approach to writing, then I believe my books will appeal to you on many levels, especially '66 on 66' which Danny Baker, no less, described as 'brilliant.'
