Susan Branham (1962-present) was born in South Carolina and spent her childhood in a tiny railroad town--a mere spot on most maps--where a creek ran through, people told stories, and time stopped. She was graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1983 with a B.A. in Journalism, minoring in English, and adoring Hemingway, Didion, Welty, Parker, and Dickinson. Her post-graduate work in Comparative Literature gave her a deeper appreciation of Brecht, Sartre, and Ibsen.
She has worked as a copywriter, served as News Editor, reporter, humor columnist, and photographer at the Lexington Dispatch-News in Lexington, South Carolina, and was the founding Managing Editor of The Columbia Journal in Columbia, South Carolina. Her poetry and interviews were featured in various collegiate publications.
Susan lives with her family in Colorado where she served as Vice President of the Front Range Fiction Writers group and contributed columns to their newsletter. She is the author of three novels including DARKER BY DEGREE and DIRECTOR'S CUT, the first two books in the Maddie Pryce Mystery Series, written with co-author, Keri Knutson, and currently listed on Amazon's e-book inventory.
Susan is a prolific poet and essayist, enjoys working with the short story format, and looks forward to publishing the works on which she is currently engaged. She often previews her poems and essays on her blogs.
She is married with two children, actively volunteers with the local schools and the arts community, and enjoys gardening and tiny scale "tree-farming", baking, and entertaining friends. She still lives in a tiny town--a slightly bigger spot on the map than the first--where children run through, people wave, and time flies while a 14,000 foot mountain peak stands quietly by, keeping watch over all.
