Biography of Charles Suddeth

Charles Suddeth was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana and lived on an historic Ohio River farm once the site of a pioneer fort. He grew up in suburban Detroit but has spent his adult years in Kentucky. He has two grown sons and lives alone in Louisville with two cats. His house is a few blocks from Tom Sawyer State Park, where he likes to hike, write, and watch the deer. He graduated from Michigan State University and has done graduate work at MSU in veterinary medicine. He has done graduate work in education at the University of Louisville and Spalding University.

He has been a salesman, public school teacher, and even a truck driver. He retired early to care for a sick wife and is now a fulltime writer. He has taken writing courses and attended countless writing workshops. He belongs to the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI Midsouth), International Thriller Writers, Green River Writers, and the Kentucky State Poetry Society.

He moderates two critique groups for children’s writers, and hosts a monthly Chit Chatters Schmooze (social/networking meeting) for Louisville children’s writers. He is also the Contest Director for Green River Writers’ yearly contest.
