IN THE COMPANY OF FISHERS, is about a handful of Pacific Northwest fishers and how they live in the company of others. Using strong female protagonists, it paints the seascape with a story of friendship, values, failure, and triumph. Fishers are bound together like a fraternity or sorority, although there is no such thing in the rough informal fisher society. They are initiated members of a somewhat exclusive club in which the extended families of fishers and the vessels are also members. The story is dedicated to those independent free souls we have lost over the years. In the Company of Fishers has great reviews in magazines and newspapers extending from Nome, Alaska to the state of Maine.
Ken Boire also wrote the Pacific Northwest adventure novel, INHERIT THE TIDE. His Native American roots show through his writing. The story revolves around a Native American grandmother and her half Indian, ten-year-old grandson growing up in Seattle. His novels are about people setting themselves free.
Ken's newest book is SELF DEFENSE FOR SENIORS. A nonfiction book, it presents a self defense method developed specifically for seniors. It came out in 2014 and has been selling aggressively.
