Bernon Lee

Bernon Lee is a professor of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament at Bethel University, Minnesota. His interest lies with the literary properties of biblical rules and rites, and with the contentious cultural and religious forces that bear on the interpretation of these texts. Currently, his writing dwells on the disparate loyalties of nineteenth-century writers navigating the conceptions of prestige, power and beauty in reading biblical ‘legislation’ within the context of British imperialism.

Lee chairs the Society of Biblical Literature’s (SBL) Multicultural Perspectives on Theology, Religion and Biblical Interpretation section of the Upper Mid-West Region. At the national conference he is a member of the steering committee for the Recovering Female Bible Interpreters section.
