Justin Dargin

Justin Dargin is a global energy strategist and author focused on how energy, climate, and geopolitics are reshaping power in the 21st century. He has spent over two decades advising governments, national oil companies, and international institutions on energy strategy, decarbonization, and global markets.

He has worked with organizations including OPEC and held research roles at Harvard University and the University of Oxford, where his work has informed policy, carbon market design, and energy transition strategy.

His latest book, The Gulf’s Climate Reckoning (Cambridge University Press, 2025), examines how Gulf petro-states are navigating decarbonization while competing to retain economic and geopolitical influence in a rapidly evolving energy system.

Dargin’s writing blends strategic insight with field-based experience, addressing energy security, carbon markets, and the political economy of transition. Fluent in Arabic and Spanish, he brings a cross-regional perspective shaped by years of direct engagement across the Middle East, Africa, and global policy arenas.
