Jan Jansen

Jan Jansen is an urban historian. A member of the Organization of American Historians, and American History Association, Jan has done extensive research in twentieth-century American social history. Jan completed her Master's Degree in history with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2006. Her thesis, titled, Building A Garden City: Zion, Illinois,1900-1960 is in process of editing to be published as The Battle For The Garden City, Zion,Illinois In The 2oth Century.

Jan grew-up in Zion, Illinois and has studied the rich local history of the city and surrounding Chicago-land area. She graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1970. The Jansen-side of her family emigrated from Prussia in the mid-nineteenth-century and settled in Milwaukee.

Jan's first novel, Cistern secrets is loosely based on local histories of Michigan's Upper Peninsula in early 20th century. The sequel, Flight To Charlotte, answers a few of the secrets and takes the reader on a suspense-filled journey depicting some of the fictional characters introduced in Cistern Secrets and expands upon some new, and very colorful new characters.

Jan is a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Viet-Nam Era and the founder of the publishing house of My Sister Publishing Company.
