C.B. Shiepe writes stories of recognition—stories about identity, belonging, loss, hope, and the grace that remains when the things we have built our lives upon are taken away.
His debut novel, Cliff Falls, became the best-selling independently published novel in the history of Vroman’s Bookstore. It was selected as the City of Arcadia’s One Community, One Book, adapted into an Audie Award–nominated audiobook narrated by Tony Award winner Santino Fontana, and is currently in development as a feature film.
His newest books, The Last Box, a memoir, and The Last Mission, a novel, approach the same human questions from two different directions—memory and imagination, experience and metaphor. The companion books will be released simultaneously on April 27, 2027.
For nearly two decades, Shiepe has spoken across the country at treatment facilities, colleges, bookstores, and other gatherings. His ongoing reflections, The Same Water, continue that conversation through short stories about what we notice, what we carry, and what remains.
He lives in Southern California.
