W T Subalusky

The experiences WT (Bill) Subalusky draws on for his written work include watching all of the toes on a man’s foot get amputated, observing a caesarean section birth by a woman he never met, driving a submarine to the deepest depth of which it was capable just to see if it could go that deep, starting up a nuclear power plant on a powerless and sinking submarine that was already several hundred feet deep, directing the huge organization of a two-reactor, commercial nuclear site, and evaluating the performance of essentially every commercial nuclear plant in the U.S. He is much more than an author. He’s a career Navy officer and nuclear submariner, an advance-degreed engineer, an experienced executive, a teacher, a master of assessment and oversight, a team leader, a management advisor, a commercial nuclear power expert, and a knowledgeable overseer of medical care that has led him to become a passionate advocate of patient safety. Most importantly, he’s a sharer – a sharer of the broad experiences and lessons he has learned throughout more than five decades of professional work dedicated primarily to improving management and safety performance.

In both his written works, The Observant Eye and The War on Error, he shares his experiences using personal anecdotes and graphic examples, and provides practical, easily understood advice that can help others benefit from the lessons he has learned throughout his multiple professional careers.

Continuous learning is another passion in which he engages through extensive reading of related professional material and news, and through often sought dialogue with other professionals on their experiences, challenges, and ideas for improving work place performance with a focus on safety.
