Drew Halfmann is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Davis.
His first book, "Doctors and Demonstrators: How Political Institutions Shape Abortion Law in the United States, Britain and Canada" won the 2012 Charles Tilly Best Book Award from the Section on Collective Behavior and Social Movements of the American Sociological Association.
He is currently writing a book on African-Americans, health and the welfare state.
