Pat Libby

Pat Libby is one of the nation’s leading experts on citizen lobbying campaigns. A long-time nonprofit leader, consultant, and academic, Pat has made it her mission to teach people how to create change through the legislative process. Pat is the author of several books.

The Empowered Citizens Guide: 10 Steps to Passing a Law that Matters to You is a “how-to” book that provides new and experienced advocates with the tools they need to make change in their communities.

The Lobbying Strategy Handbook is an engaging resource for students who are seeking a simple blueprint for learning how to take part in the legislative process. The book contains multiple case studies of how students have used Pat’s 10-step lobbying model to pass laws.

In addition, Pat is co-author, with Laura Deitrick, of Cases in Nonprofit Management, and is a contributing author in Technology, Activism and Social Justice in a Digital Age, edited by John McNutt.

Pat is a management consultant to nonprofits and philanthropies who views the work of nonprofit organizations through the kaleidoscope of her experiences as a long-time CEO, board member, academic and consultant to innumerable organizations. Her 21-year consulting practice involves working with organizations to recruit executives, think and plan strategically, and find practical solutions to complex problems. A Boston native, Pat holds a graduate degree in Urban Planning from MIT and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Sociology from Tufts University.
