She held reporting and editorial positions at U.S. News & World Report and Business Publishers, Inc., for more than a decade. She was editor of two newsletters, American Marketplace and Public Transit Report; wrote a series of related monographs; and contributed feature stories to Mass Transit Magazine. In 1990, Dede moved to Boise, Idaho, and launched the trade newsletter: Extrapolate.
At the same time, she continued her fiction and essay writing, and was a regular contributor to Boise Magazine. She also wrote weekly restaurant reviews for the Boise Weekly. Currently, Dede writes feature articles for the quarterly publication, The Boise Journal, Boise Home, McCall Magazine, and McCall Home.
