Doreen was born, raised and still resides in Manitoba, Canada. She has been a freelance writer since 1993 and has written dozens of magazine articles primarily in the areas of travel and lifestyle for many publications including National Geographic Traveler, Canadian Geographic, Westjet newsmagazine, CAA Going Places, and Travel World International.
In 2004, she co-authored the 1st edition of "Frommer's Newfoundland & Labrador." In 2008, she co-authored the bestselling "Manitoba Book of Everything," happily sharing unknown bits of sophisticated trivia about her home province. Doreen has been a lifelong volunteer and in 2010, wrote, "Before You Say Yes ... a Guide to the Pleasures and Pitfalls of Volunteer Boards." She's now completed work on the first volume in her series about chocolate travel/chocolate tourism, "Chocolatour: A Quest for the World's Best Chocolate."
